
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s big idea on the environmental front is the ban of single-use plastics.
In his Independence Day speech, the PM urged all Indians to make sincere efforts to tackle plastic waste and indicated that come October 2, Gandhi Jayanti, and the central government would take the lead in saying goodbye to single-use plastics.
The fact that PM Modi means business is clear after he reiterated his government’s commitment to act against plastic waste and single-use plastics in both - his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio address and the G7 summit in France.
It is high time that citizens also realised the magnitude and seriousness of the problem and effect some lifestyle changes that are more eco-friendly.
